Devil May Cry 5 Goth Swordsman

Devil May Cry 5 Trailer Previews New HYDE Song

Aside from the reboot, Devil May Cry is a very distinctly Japanese franchise. Even beyond the series’ origins, the premise is distinctly from the land of the rising sun. You play as a demon hunter who operates as a private detective. You wield comically oversized swords, various magic powers, and enough skills to sometimes save the world. An over the top premise like that deserves a kickass theme song, and Capcom had provided exactly that with the new Devil May Cry 5 song from Japanese rocker HYDE.

The song in the trailer, entitled Mad Qualia, fits the high-speed action like a glove. The trailer also features voice work from the recently revealed Japanese cast. That’s Kaito Ishikawa as Nero, Toshiyuki Morikawa as Dante and Kouki Uchiyama as raven-haired newcomer, V. You can see even more of the Japanese cast in a second trailer released alongside the HYDE collaboration.

If you recognize the singer, you might be a fan of Fullmetal Alchemist, as HYDE is the lead singer of L’Arc-en-Ciel. That band did the original opening for the first edition of the anime. His contributions to the Devil May Cry 5 soundtrack haven’t been released on streaming services as of yet, so you’ll just have to play the trailer on a loop if you want more.

While you’re looping the trailer, you can also enjoy the Devil May Cry 5 demo on Xbox One. Playing through the demo grants currency in the full game, but said demo is exclusive to the Xbox platform. This is not great news for those who want a little extra boost on PC and PS4. The full game will release in all the usual places, so you can purchase on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC when it comes out on March 8, 2019.

You can view the HYDE collaboration trailer below.
