Insurgency: Sandstorm Launch Trailer Shows Heart-Pounding Tactical Action

The Insurgency Sandstorm launch trailer is here and it’s full of heart-pounding action, showing off a bunch of cool gunplay in New World Interactive’s newest first-person shooter.

The opening moments of the Insurgency Sandstorm launch trailer show different groups of soldiers and insurgents arming themselves and loading their weapons. We then immediately move into the action. We get to see some gunplay from various perspectives using a variety of different weapons including assault rifles, pistols, sniper rifles, and grenade launchers.

Something particularly noticeable in the trailer is the complete lack of a HUD. Many trailers do away with icons and the like for cinematic purposes, but what we see in the Insurgency Sandstorm launch trailer isn’t all that different from the actual game. Insurgency Sandstorm places a strong emphasis on realism and features a minimalistic HUD. The game’s weapons perform in a similarly realistic fashion – you’re not going to be pulling off a 360 no-scope in this game, that’s for sure.

Another key focus in the Insurgency Sandstorm launch trailer is the notion of squads working together. There are plenty of military shooters out there and many of them let you run about as a lone wolf gunning down the opposition. This game also breaks away from its contemporaries by placing importance on squad tactics and working together. There will likely be quite a few veterans of the previous title in the series hopping on to play today and they’re well-practiced at moving together as a team. Running off by yourself is more likely to end in your death by a squad working together.

The trailer concludes by showing a few bombastic explosions causing severe damage to buildings and taking out a few enemies. If the Insurgency Sandstorm launch trailer has sold you on the game, you can pick it up on Steam for $23.99 or your regional equivalent, a 20% discount from its retail price. This special promotion will end on December 14.
