NVIDIA May Be Working on New Graphics Card Series

Rumors are swirling around the popular GPU manufacturer Nvidia working on a new graphics card series. These new cards are said to focus on Turing shaders rather than the new RTX 20 series which is all about the RTX ray tracing technology.

Reportedly, an article on the Chinese website Expreview (via Videocardz) explains a new model called the GTX 1660 Ti (or GTX 1160) will be released as part of a new graphics card series next month. This launch will see Nvidia split it’s GPU lineup into the GeForce RTX series such as the new RTX 2080 and the GTX series which will use a 11xx naming convention like these new rumored cards.

It also seems that these new cards might replace the niche expected to be held by the lower series of cards like an RTX 2050. Instead, these reports claim there will be no such card and these less expensive cards will only be featuring Turing models.

Essentially, if you’re looking to build a PC in the near future and aren’t sold on the new ray tracing technology or the price tags it can come with it might be worth holding out and seeing what this new graphics card series has to offer. That is, of course, if it even exists.

Nvidia also isn’t the only company with new cards to be released. AMD is set to reveal its new Radeon Navi cards and while we did get some leaks regarding the specs and prices, that may not be all to the story. According to AMD’s CEO, these cards should be able to compete with the best of them when they release.

For now, we’ll just have to wait until these cards are actually out in the market or at least get solid evidence that they even exist. It’s always best to see them in action before making any rash decisions on what guts to give your precious new PC.
