Atlus Has Multiple Unannounced New Games Lined up for 2019

Atlus has multiple unannounced new games lined up for the New Year, with the publisher revealing that 2019 will bring with it a variety of new projects for the studio. The Japanese game company had a relatively quiet 2018, releasing the likes of Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight and Dragon’s Crown Pro. However, its Happy New Year 2019 card revealed that it has more up its sleeve for next year.

The card was posted in the latest edition of the Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu, with multiple developers discussing the projects they will be working on in 2019.  A note posted with Atlus’s card reads: “Starting with Catherine: Full Body, we are steadily preparing unannounced new titles. Please look forward to a follow-up report of Shin Megami Tensei V, as well.”

The card can be viewed below:

Catherine: Full Body, an enhanced port of the 2011 game, is set to launch on PS4 and PS Vita on February 14th, 2019. Aside from this, Atlus has 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim and Shin Megami Tensei V lined up to publish next year, with Project Re Fantasy‘s release date having not been confirmed. Only Shin Megami Tensei V is being developed in-house by Atlus.

It has been rumored that Atlus is looking to release an enhanced version of Persona 5 along with a Nintendo Switch port of the JRPG. With protagonist Joker set to appear in Super Smash Bros Ultimate as a playable fighter, Atlus recently registered the domain Persona5S.jp, suggesting that a Switch version of the game is on its way.

Persona 5 making its way to the Switch would make sense, and the JRPG would be at home on the portable console. With the success of Octopath Traveler showing that there’s a big market for extensive RPG games on the go, our 2017 Game of the Year should attract a wide audience on the Nintendo console. With Persona being introduced to Nintendo fans who aren’t well-versed in the series by way of Smash Bros Ultimate, it’s imaginable that plenty of players will want to jump into the series for the first time on the Switch.
