There’s no stopping Amazon. The retail juggernaut had a fantastic 2018 holiday season, setting new sales records.
According to the press release Amazon put out, some of the more popular Amazon devices sold on the website this year include the Echo Dot, the Fire Stick 4K with Alexa remote, and the Amazon Echo.
Devices using the Alexa technology did very well this year. Usage of Alexa, according to the press release, has significantly increased. It delivered eight times as many reminders this year as it did last year, and it even provided three times as many recipes as it did last year. Yummy.
In terms of best sellers and seasonal trends, the best selling toys included the L.O.L Surprise! Glam Glitter series doll, the Melissa & Doug Scratch Art Rainbow Mini Notes with Wooder Stylus and the LEGO Creator Mighty Dinosaurs toy.
Amazon also made sure to tout that their own brands did very well. Some of the top items from their own collections include long-sleeve plaid flannel shirts, AmazonBasics multi purpose scissors, Presto! Toilet Paper and Solimo Dark Road Coffee K-Cup Pods.
Finally, Amazon boasted that they saved people millions in their physical stores, naming Becoming by Michelle Obama as one of their best-selling books. Whole Foods Market, which was recently purchased by Amazon also did well, with the top Prime member deal being turkeys.
“This season was our best yet, and we look forward to continuing to bring our customers what they want, in ways most convenient for them in 2019,” said Jeff Wilke, CEO Worldwide Consumer. “We are thrilled that in the U.S. alone, more than one billion items shipped for free this holiday with Prime.”
“Thank you to our employees all around the world who are committed to bringing our customers the widest selection of products with low prices and fast and free delivery options throughout the holidays and all year long” he further added.
