Sorry PlayStation fans, but all of your PlayStation 3 content will not transfer to Sony's next-gen console.
In a roundtable chat following the event, Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida confirmed that PlayStation 3 retail and digital games will not be playable on the PS4. All hope is not lost, however, as downloaded titles may one day be playable on the new hardware thanks to emulation.
While this is very much a possibility in the future, Mr. Yoshida made it clear that they're "not talking about [their] emulation plans as yet," going on to add that "there are two ways [to play legacy content]: emulation or cloud services [from Gaikai]. But native support [of digital games from PS3], no, sorry. It doesn’t work.”
So if you've got a bunch of PS3 discs laying around, cling to that console of yours with dear life.
