Competitive gamers, listen up.
Blizzard is pushing to make StarCraft II an even more popular eSports game by adding functionality through the StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm expansion. Today, community manager Kevin Johnson revealed three new additions that are not only new for the series, but no other game on the market has.
First off, the ability to watch replays with others will be possible. Teams that are looking to learn from mistakes or players who simply want to share awesome moments can now look to the Group Replay feature as a solution. One player assumes control of the camera, and can direct the replay John Madden style.
While watching replays with others is targeted more toward the hardcore crowd, Take Command is something everyone can enjoy. At any time during a replay you can choose to assume control of a player and continue with the game. Instead of looking at your last game as a complete failure, you'll be able to zoom to the point where crap hit the fan and change the outcome.
Additionally, Blizzard is employing a full recovery system for games that are affected by abnormalities such as server crashes. It will allow players to resume games from right before the event occurred. The system will also look for issues with peripherals and internet crashes.
As great as these features are, it's the new units, content, and campaign that will draw players back to StarCraft II next month. Nonetheless, the full video detailing the features mentioned above can be seen below:
