The currently gaming fad/rage these days is the free-to-play market, and Naughty Dog is going to tap into it with (of all things) the multiplayer portion from Uncharted 3. As of today, anyone and everyone on the PSN can download the Uncharted 3 multiplayer for free.
The first 15 levels of competitve multiplayer, and beyond that, that's where the microtransactions begin. Some of these include raising the level cap to 25, removing the level cap, and purchasing the co-op content.
Lead game designedr Robert Coburn told Joystiq that Naughty Dog is dipping into the freemium pool to 1) "reinvigorate" Uncharted 3 players as well as 2) test the world of free-to-play.
Interesting idea or is this a failure waiting to happen? I can see other multiplayer games having far more success with this model, but Uncharted 3? Or am I totally clueless about how popular the multiplayer portion of this game is?
