Is it becoming a fad to say no to the Wii U?
Speaking to iGamer, Mojang Lead Designer Jens Bergensten shared the company's willingness to make a PlayStation port of Minecraft, while the Wii U was—once again—given a cold shoulder. He said:
Microsoft has an exclusivity deal for consoles. When it runs out we’ll consider Minecraft for PlayStation, but Wii U is very unlikely.
Minecraft was one of the most well-received games of the past decade due to its easy-to-grasp design that makes creativity fun to explore. Moreover, it claimed the #15 spot on our top PC games of all-time. In other words, it would be a valuable addition to the PlayStation library. Next to Diablo III it could fill the void of local multiplayer games and spur some creativity that has been missing from the platform since the release of LittleBigPlanet 2.
In contrast, it would be another loss for the Wii U. Developers haven't had much nice to say about Nintendo's new platform since it came out last year, and if any previously released award-winning title would fit nicely onto the Wii U it would be Minecraft. But when software sales are lackluster you can't blame a company for being hesitant. As they say, speak with your wallet.
