Watch Dogs 3 might take place in London, according to new rumors

Ubisoft hasn’t exactly been subtle about the potential setting for the still as-of-yet unannounced Watch Dogs 2 sequel. Now, after the second game received a patch which updated the ending to include a small reference to London, a new rumor has seemingly confirmed that the potential Watch Dogs 3 will, in fact, be set in the United Kingdom.

According to a rumor sourced from message board 4chan by GamesRadar, the upcoming sequel will be set in an open world London and allow players to choose between either a male or female protagonist. The rumor also suggests that the new game will feature a heavy focus on hacking as a means of minimizing the role of combat, though an amount of gunplay and melee combat will still be present. Finally, the game is apparently set for a 2019 launch.

This rumor has been somewhat corroborated by Kotaku reporter Jason Schreier who took to Twitter to post an emoji of a U.K. flag when asked if the latest rumors were true. This rumored London setting also aligns with the patched ending of Watch Dogs 2 which saw the hacker group DeadSec go global and a subtle inclusion of coordinates which point to London.

The 2019 launch is apparently meant to cover for the lack of Assassin’s Creed title this year, though the new rumor also touches on the future of that franchise. The post suggests that the next title will be called Legion, though this could be a working title, and will continue to build on Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey‘s RPG systems in Italy. Legion will apparently launch on both current generation hardware and the upcoming PlayStation 5 and Xbox Project Scarlett.

Assassin’s Creed fans looking for something a little more tangible will be treated to a variety of game improvements, including a new game plus mode, for Odyssey as part of the game’s February update. The update will be available tomorrow.
