Last week brought one Cage reveal, and this week brings another. The Mortal Kombat 11 Cassie Cage gameplay stream finally showed off her moves in the new game along with official recognizing her as part of the cast. Kano, who was only briefly displayed on a livestream at the end of January, also got his time in the light with his own breakdown.
She has a little drone that helps her on the field along with a mix of old and new moves. Cassie was described as well-rounded character that takes a ton of advantage of the Kustom Variation system as players can use that to specialize zoning, traps, or brawling up close. This means that in order to specialize, players will have to give her certain moves instead of staying with her jack of all trades base loadout. She also has different voice actress this time around, as evidenced by the Kombat Kast stream.
Kano also looks to use his signature knives as well as his laser eye and dirty fighting style. But he also has new moves like throwing a Molotov cocktail, acid, and more. Steve Brownback, senior QA analyst at NetherRealm, even said that this was “the coolest iteration of Kano” that has even been in Mortal Kombat. He was described as a fighter that likes to get in close to use command grabs and mix ups.
Cassie was semi-revealed during one of the game’s behind the scenes trailers that was released in January. She was on the screen talking to Kitana, who was not shown. Kitana has also been in the trailers but hasn’t been officially recognized as part of the cast.
Both Cassie and Kano were also in the story trailer NetherRealm released today. Not only did that video yield details on the story, but it also contained some other characters like Jacqui Briggs, Erron Black, Kotal Kahn, and more.
Whether or not NetherRealm acknowledges it, all of these fighters were part of the huge leak that happened last week. Someone shared pictures of most, if not all, of the roster, prematurely revealing pictures of Noob Saibot, Erron Black, Jacqui Briggs, and more. This doesn’t differ greatly from the official roster, which gives credence to the already convincing leaks.
