No Man's Sky VR

No Man’s Sky VR announced at PlayStation State of Play

No Man’s Sky VR was announced during today’s PlayStation State of Play stream. Though the game had a rocky start, Hello Games has dedicated themselves towards improving, polishing, and adding content since the game’s release in 2016. No Man’s Sky VR is part of a wave of huge updates coming for the game this summer that has been dubbed “No Man’s Sky Beyond.”

This isn’t just a VR experience separate from the main game. Instead it looks like the whole of No Man’s Sky will be available to play through PSVR. This is just one of the three phases announced for Beyond, though. In addition to added PSVR support, the online experience will be revamped as well. The game will get a new social and multiplayer experience that have been crafted in response to player feedback after the release of the last big expansion, No Man’s Sky NEXT.

We’re unsure what the third big update in No Man’s Sky Beyond will be. With the addition of VR and a new multiplayer experience, the game might instantly become a killer app for PSVR. The platform has steadily gained ground since its release in late 2016, but still lacks in apps are system sellers. Even though it’s an add-on for the PS4, the price is prohibitive without killer titles to sell it, but it’s obviously something Sony continues to work on.

No Man’s Sky VR will be a part of the Beyond update that is set to release in Summer 2019. The update will be free for all of those who own No Man’s Sky, and will not require an additional DLC purchase. As for whether No Man’s Sky VR will come to other platforms, no details have been released yet. For now it seems to be a PSVR exclusive.
