Cyber Shadow. Aarne “MekaSkull” Hunziker has been slowly developing the retro-style ninja action game over the past decade. Yacht Club Games has been working with Hunziker on polishing and finishing Cyber Shadow. The game is slated for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. No release date has been announced.
Yacht Club Games teased the reveal of a new game a few weeks ago, and eagle-eyed netizens quickly drew a connection to MekaSkull’s Cyber Shadow. The partnership was announced just ahead of PAX East, where Cyber Shadow, and Shovel Knight: King of Cards will be playable. Yacht Club Games released a new trailer today.
“The world has been taken over by synthetic lifeforms. A desperate plea for help sets Shadow on a journey to uncover what started the path to perpetual ruin. Slash through the techno hordes, leap past traps, and nimbly navigate the ruins of Mekacity in Cyber Shadow.”
Yacht Club reached out to Hunziker over two years ago about publishing the game. Hunziker had no intentions of working with a publisher but was open to Yacht Club Games helping him hone the title. Ninja Gaiden, Contra, and other 8-bit action games heavily inspired Hunziker’s design for the game. The Yacht Club team is handling marketing, porting, business, and other publishing roles. Hunziker is working with Yacht Club to gain design and gameplay feedback to ensure Cyber Shadow is the best it can be.
Yacht Club Games has been busy finishing the last pieces of Shovel Knight content. Following the original game’s release, Yacht Club developed two brand-new campaigns for the game. King of Cards will be the final new Shovel Knight campaign, and the Showdown PVP expansion is still on the way. PAX East will be the first place to play the new Shovel Knight content, and Cyber Shadow.
