Ahead of the game’s release next week, a Mortal Kombat 11 launch trailer has been published. The trailer has everything you’d expect. There’s a breakneck pace soundtrack with a version of Mortal Kombat’s famous theme. There’s a taste of the series off-the-wall storytelling and the series’ trademark fatalities.
The Mortal Kombat 11 launch trailer is a non-stop tour of all that makes the fighting game series so popular. The trailer begins with a narrative flavor. It opens: “Is it possible that the past and future are colliding, only Kronika has such power.” Kronika responds revealing, “I intend to restart history.” Kronika’s plan plays heavily into how the game’s story will pan out. Kronika’s actions require the player to “restore balance to the realms” by competing as different Mortal Kombat fighters from across eras.
After a spine-tingling cry of “Mortal Kombat!,” we get a whistle-stop tour of all of the game’s most famous characters, showcasing what they’ll encounter in the story this time out. Following the character’s recent reveal trailer, we once again see Shao Khan in action with his brutal hammer attacks.
Next, the trailer dips out of the cinematic style to show off more fast-paced and bone-breaking gameplay. We see almost all of the playable characters in action. The introductions, and the whole trailer, are made all the more epic by a remix of the classic Mortal Kombat track. This trailer’s soundtrack is a remixed version of the usual MK song “Techno Syndrome.”
In the last trailer released by Netherrealm Studios, we finally got a look at how Mortal Kombat 11 would play on the Nintendo Switch. Mortal Kombat 11 is the first game in the series available on Nintendo Switch. As well as the move to a new platform, there is plenty more new stuff in Mortal Kombat 11. And, if you didn’t quite catch all the characters in the trailer, we’ve compiled a list of all Mortal Kombat 11 fighters.
