According to Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida, the company never considered making the PlayStation 4 a machine that required a constant internet connection.

“Did we consider it? No, we didn’t consider it," he told GameInformer. The reason why? Because not enough of the world has access to high-speed internet.

"The main reason being that many countries don’t have robust Internet connections," Yoshida added. "It makes sense for people to have internet connections to play online games, but for offline games there are many countries that we saw do not really have robust Internet.”

Microsoft better knock it out of the park on May 21st, as the PlayStation 4 looks more and more compelling with each passing day.
