Sony has just released its hardware sales forecast (via CVG) for the PlayStation Vita, and it isn't particularly encouraging to fans of the platform.
For the business year ending March 31st, 2014, the company expects to sell only five million Vitas and PSPs combined. Compare that to this year's sales of seven million, and you've got a future that certainly doesn't look too pretty on the handheld front. It's hard to believe that Sony initially thought they'd sell a whopping 16 million units over this past year.
Do you think the Vita will ever manage to climb out of the massive hole it is currently in? Could a release like a new God of War revitalize the platform? Sony doesn't seem too confident in the device, and I've never been, so I wouldn't get your hopes up.
