Iconic publisher and developer Capcom has posted a list of all of its titles which have sold over one million units. The list of Capcom shipping totals reveals some surprising successes in the last fiscal year among the many games the studio has released. The list includes over 100 games spanning Capcom’s history, bolstering its place as a powerhouse of gaming.
Capcom’s number one top-shipping game is no surprise as it trounces the sales of the second-place contender. Monster Hunter: World secured the number one spot with 12.7 million units sold, beating Resident Evil 5 at 7.5 million. While Resident Evil unsurprisingly claims three of the top five slots, the most notable sales figures are those of the Resident Evil 2 remake and Devil May Cry 5.
Released earlier this year, the Resident Evil 2 remake has already sold 4.2 million units. It is quickly coming after its 1998 predecessor, which holds on to 4.96 million units sold. The game offered Capcom an excellent boost in the last fiscal year as it’s already the tenth highest-sold game in Capcom’s history despite having only been on the market since January.
The dark horse in the games list was Devil May Cry 5. The game came out close to the end of the fiscal year and will likely continue on to greater success, but it still managed to ship 2.1 million units as of the list’s cutoff date of March 31. Considering it was on the market for less than one month before the list was published, the units sold are worthy of recognition.
Capcom continues to do well and stand out as a gaming industry icon. With new Monster Hunter: World DLC coming in September, the game will likely continue to climb in sales numbers. The sales are so far ahead of the competition that it’s unlikely to fall from grace any time soon. Capcom has potentially set itself up for another strong fiscal year.
