Konami has announced the Yu-Gi-Oh! Switch release date. Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution arrives on Nintendo’s hybrid console on August 20.
When Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution arrives on the Nintendo Switch, it will bring more than just the card game to the system. The new game lets players relive the franchise’s history. Players can experience story arcs from the original animated series all the way to the latest set of duelists from Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS.
Fans can already preorder both the digital and physical retail versions of Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution. The physical retail version however brings with it three brand-new cards from the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game: Link Monster Progleo, Cyberse Monster Micro Coder, and the Spell Card Cynet Codec.
Of course Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution comes with all previous content from the original game that was released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. This includes the ability to compete in Battle Pack Sealed and Draft play against both the computer, as well as other players online. This was a feature first introduced in Legacy of the Duelist.
The Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise continues to be one of Konami’s biggest sellers. Alongside its various sports titles, the card game franchise helped drive the company to record profits during the previous fiscal year. This strong performance has helped justify Konami’s decision to leave the AAA market segment and focus on smaller titles.
With this in mind, it’s no surprise that Konami is continuing to push the Yu-Gi-Oh franchise. In addition to Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution the company also has an ongoing anime series, Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS, that’s already surpassed a hundred episodes. It seems that fans won’t be hurting for any new Yu-Gi-Oh! content any time soon.
