New Sound Shapes DLC Adds 80s Synths And Dubstep To The Mix

Sony Computer Entertainment and Queasy Games will release two new downloadable content packs today for their hybrid platforming and music-making game, Sound Shapes. The first is the 80's sound pack, while the second explores the hot, new thing in music: dubstep. Wait… isn't dubstep like so 2011 by now?

The 80's Sound Pack adds "synth-heavy samples and melodies along with digital drum beats, inspired by the decade's dance-centric tunes." The Dubstep Sound Pack gives sound-shapers "a wealth of wobbly beats and bass drops, allowing for some truly grimy dubstep creations." Grimy is a good thing in dubstep, huh?

As was the case with previous sound packs, Sound Shapes also gets new notes, loops, trophies and Beat School levels, all of which will culminate in a new curated Milkcrate compilation to be released later this month. Sony says the mixtape will include community-created levels from other gaming artisans like popular Pixeljunk collaborator Baiyon.

I still like to check out Sound Shapes from time to time and each new batch of DLC brings with it some wildly varied community levels. I can't wait to see what someone dreams up when they can combine 80s dance with modern dubstep. Also, have you guys played any of comrade WickedLiquid's levels
