Dota 2 Compendium A Success; New Mounts Coming And Prize Pool Up To $1.9 Million

Tired of your boring pony courier? Spice it up with a lil' Smeevil action and improve the eSports scene while you do it.

The Dota 2 Interactive Compendium has met its second stretch goal, achieving $300,000 in sales in the process. Furthermore, those who have spent $9.99 to support the game have received a virtual eSports sticker book. But that isn't all. Valve has shared that despite its initial plans of introducing a few mounts, its art team is hard at work on more due to community feedback (concept art can be seen above). It's now planning to produce much more for players. The Dota 2 blog states:

Given how much faster the community is reaching the stretch goals we set up, we’ve decided to add some more, based on the many conversations we’ve seen the community having around the compendium. In particular, the big gap between the 2nd and 3rd is something we’re addressing.

As cool as courier skins are, the significantly raised prize pool for Dota 2's The International is what's most important. The tournament now has a $1.9 million prize pool, the second largest in eSports history. It might not be as monumental as League of Legends' $3 million LCS 2013, but Dota 2 isn't even officially released yet and it's already biting at the heels of the most popular game in the world.
