Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Sets The Stage For Edward Kenway

While we know that the modern-day portion of Assassin's Creed IV will star you in some form or other, this trailer does a great job of setting up Black Flag's real hero, Edward Kenway. It might seem too easy to play off of Robin Hood's "steal from the rich and give to the poor", but Kenway just sounds pissed off. There's no concern for the poor in "As long as empires generate wealth and riches, we will be there to bleed them dry."

If one franchise could get me excited about pirates, it would have to be Assassin's Creed. I love the real-history approach and the massive, wide-open world. I don't know how I'll be able to stomach all the yo-ho's and bottles of rum, but hitting the high seas and attacking enemy vessels will likely never get old.

There's just something about the promise of adventure and action combined with a heavy sense of historical accuracy that makes Assassin's Creed so compelling. Plus, I've still got so many questions! Will this game show why and how Haytham got involved with the Templars? Who is the main-villain/Templar force in this entry? How has Minerva influenced the modern world?

My excitment is only matched by my skepticism, but with E3 2013 just a few short weeks away, we will have (more) answers soon.
