Rainbow Six Quarantine leak points to a co-op PVE shooter similar to Siege's outbreak mode.

Rainbow Six Quarantine leak hints at a new co-op shooter being revealed at E3

A new rumor is stating that Ubisoft is set to announce Rainbow Six Quarantine, a new tactical co-op shooter. The Rainbow Six Quarantine leak comes from a variety of sources, all pointing at the new game being announced at Ubisoft’s E3 conference.

Talk of a new Rainbow Six game first started in a recent episode of the Kotaku Splitscreen podcast. Here, Jason Schreier talked about a possible new game, and stated that it was supposedly based on UbiSoft’s abandoned Pioneer project.

Following this, known industry insider Nibel revealed the name of the game on Twitter. They also confirmed that Rainbow Six Quarantine is not based on Pioneer.

While Ubisoft working on a new Rainbow Six game is odd, considering the company’s stance on its current game Rainbow Six Siege, the leak does point out that Rainbow Six Quarantine is a co-op PVE game. The company has mentioned that it wants to bring Siege in to the next console generation before it even considers a sequel. Siege has primarily been an esports focused PVP team shooter and this game would likely just be a separate thing.

That said, Siege has had a number of PVE events, including one which may hint at the nature of Quarantine. In the Outbreak mode that Ubisoft released last spring, players worked together to complete missions in the middle of a zombie apocalypse. With “quarantine” being another word related to infections and synonym for “outbreak,” it seems likely that the new game may be related to the mode as well.

In addition to this, Schreier also mentioned that Ubisoft was also working on a new “small-scoped” RPG codenamed “Orpheus.” Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild supposedly acts as the inspiration for this project.

Whether or not the Rainbow Six Quarantine leak and Orpheus are real will be confirmed at Ubisoft’s E3 2019 press conference on Monday, July 10 at 4:00 PM ET.
