Indie devs looking to get published on Xbox One's Live Marketplace will have to go through the Big M, the Xbox manufacturer has revealed.
"We intend to continue to court developers in the ways that we have," Redmond Game Studios general manager Matt Booty told Shacknews.
This comes as a bit of a shock, considering both Sony and Nintendo have decided to embrace a self-publishing model for indies on their next-gen platforms.
However, that doesn't mean the Microsoft won't be refining its approach at some point down the line. "I would also expect that for this new generation, that we're going to continue to explore new business models and new ways of surfacing content," Booty added. "But Microsoft Studios is a publisher that works with a wide range of partners, as do a lot of other people, to bring digital content to the box."
