The Legend of Zelda Links Awakening release date

E3 2019 | The Legend of Zelda Link’s Awakening release date revealed

A main highlight of the Nintendo Direct E3 2019 conference for many fans will be The Legend of Zelda Link’s Awakening release date announcement. After the game’s big reveal, where the art style attracted both praise and criticism, nostalgic superfans and eager newcomers have been waiting to learn when exactly they can get their hands on the new Zelda game. (Well, not new, but you know what I mean!)

This is a modern reimagining of the Game Boy title which released over 25 years ago. Link’s Awakening is one of the most beloved games in the series, and now it’s returning for Nintendo Switch players to enjoy.

Players will encounter unique elements that appeared in the original Game Boy release, which include 2D platformer-style rooms, as well as appearances from characters outside of The Legend of Zelda series.

The new dungeon creator feature will help boost the longevity of the game, as players who complete player-created dungeons will reap rewards. The dungeon maker uses a tile-based system which looks simple to use. Players move blocks around to build a The Binding of Isaac-like dungeon experience.

Different dungeon maker room types, enemies, treasure chests, locked doors, and other tools were showcased in the new gameplay trailer.

One clip in the trailer shows Link rocking a whopping 20 heart containers, as he climbs to the top of a mountain. This is potentially an endgame tease, as an egg-shaped object can be spotted.

If you were hoping the 2019 release would remain firmly in place, then you should be very happy: The Legend of Zelda Link’s Awakening release date is September 20, 2019.

This newly-revealed launch date puts the game’s release much closer than players might have expected. So long as the game is polished and working as intended, then this is very good news indeed, releasing with plenty of time for the holiday season!
