An Crash Team Racing DLC reveal has potentiallyshown Spyro as a new DLC racer for Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled. The reveal comes via the lede-burying official PlayStation blog of all places, which includes a featured image highlighting the new Crash Team Racing DLC racer, Tawna, being flanked by the dinosaur companion from Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped and Spyro the Dragon.
While this, obviously, hasn’t been confirmed as Spyro DLC, the PlayStation blog still (for now) has images up of Spyro next to Tawna. Tawna the Bandicoot, meanwhile, has been confirmed to launch alongside the game’s first “season” in July. Understandably, no Spyro DLC release date has been given, nor do we know when we’ll be able to race around the likes of Polar Pass with the adorable little dino karter.
A roadmap is, reportedly, available online (via Gematsu), and features a Nitro Tour Cup, featuring the aforementioned Tawna (from the original Crash Bandicoot), a Back in Time Cup, involving the cutesy dinosaur from a handful of Warped levels, and Crash’s platforming pal, himself, Spyro. He’ll be arriving at an as-yet-announced date, and he’ll even come with his own Spyro Grand Prix. Now, let’s hope this stealth turns into a Crash All-Stars type shindig. I want Hunter, Moneybags, Ripto, the lot. And a map based around Sunny Villa wouldn’t go amiss, either.
Spyro has been mooted as a DLC character for some time. Indeed, an extensive fan theory (via Reddit) posited that the purple dragon, the yin to Crash’s yang across several PlayStation platform titles in the 1990s and beyond, hasn’t been revealed yet because he’s been hiding away in Dragon Mines. Of course, this now pretty much confirms he exists in the game in some way, shape, or form.
We’ve reached out to Activision for comment and will update the page accordingly when we hear more.
