It looks like Electronics Arts may very well be moving forward with a new Star Wars: Battlefront title, as company CFO Blake Jorgensen has teased as much.
Speaking in regards to the exclusive publishing rights to Star Wars they just recently secured, Jorgensen explained during the Stifel 2013 Technology Conference:
These aren't movie games, per se; these are stand-alone games. But obviously they would come out near the movies and be able to tailgate off of some of the buzz that will be created around the new Star Wars movies.
The opportunity to do a new Battlefront, for example, which is one of the very popular Star Wars games, or some of the other traditional games that were made, is very exciting.
The EA exec also discussed the future of current-gen support, saying that the publisher plans to release games for today's consoles all the way up through 2017. Now that's a long time. Something tells me that at that point, the current-gen software lineup with be primarily made up of downgraded ports of sports games.
