It appears that Nintendo may be planning to ditch the Wii U Basic model altogether, as a new report suggests starting June 18th that the Big N will be recalling this version of console.
The report comes from Kotaku, which cites a GameStop message provided by a reliable source as evidence.
Nintendo Wii U Basic Recall – Two Week Preparation On Tuesday, 6/18, all stories [sic] will need to return all new/unopened Wii U Basic (020359).
.. Stores that have 10 or more in stock will receive shipping cartons from the [distribution center].
.. All other stores will need to save shipping cartons for this recall.
Considering that the Wii U hasn't been selling all that well along with the fact that the few consoles that are actually being sold are predominantly the Deluxe model, this move makes perfect sense of the part of Nintendo.
Do you think the Basic model was a foolish move from the start? Let us know in the comments below.
