When Call of Duty: Modern Warfare arrives this fall, it’ll bring with it one major change to the series’ gameplay. Activision has confirmed that the Modern Warfare aiming down sight reload feature will not only be in the series for the first time ever, but it will also be on by default.
Activision announced the change in a recent developer blog on their site. Here, animation director Mark Grigsby talked about the change, and how it helps players stay in the action.
“One other thing we added this year is the ADS [Aiming Down Sight] reload,” stated Grigsby. “In the past, if you’re ADS, and you’re shooting and you reload, the weapon would go off to the side, and you’d have to retrain to get to your target. This time if you reload, it stays on the target, so you can stay in the battle.”
Call of Duty has allowed reloading while aiming down sights before in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. However, this was an additional perk from a weapon attachment, and was only available for certain weapons. This time, players will be able to reload while aiming down sights from the get go.
