Rainbow Six Quarantine early 2020 release date hinted

Ubisoft hasn’t revealed much about its upcoming shooter Rainbow Six Quarantine. However, one thing we now know is its general release window, as Ubisoft has hinted that the Rainbow Six Quarantine release date will be sometime in early 2020.

According to GameInformer, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot stated in a recent financial call that the company plans to have Rainbow Six Quarantine out before the end of the current fiscal year. For those not familiar with it, the current fiscal years end on March 31, 2020, meaning that the game will be released during the first three months of the year.

A release date around that time shouldn’t be surprising for Ubisoft. The company prefers to release at least one game at the start of the year. This year saw Far Cry New Dawn hit in early February, after all. The studio already has two other games slated for early 2020: Gods and Monsters releases on February 25, meanwhile Watch Dogs Legion arrives on March 6. With this in mind, Rainbow Six Quarantine could release in January or early February based on previous releases.

Aside from this, Ubisoft still hasn’t released much information about Rainbow Six Quarantine. All that’s been revealed points to it taking after Rainbow Six Siege‘s Outbreak event. This means Quarantine will be a co-op, PvE tactical experience, instead of a multiplayer PvP hero shooter like Seige.

As with Outbreak, Quarantine focuses on an alien threat that has somehow turned itself into zombie mutants. This represents a departure from the Rainbow Six franchise’s usual focus on threats modeled after real world terrorists.

In addition to this, the game’s Ubisoft Store description seems to hint at Rainbow Six Quarantine having some roguelike elements. Specifically, it says that players must risk “everything,” possibly alluding to a sort of permadeath system, similar to that which was added into Ghost Recon: Wildlands. Of course, this is just speculation, but the fact that Ubisoft used it in the that game does make its return in Quarantine a possibility.
