Call of Duty: Modern Warfare multiplayer gameplay revealed

The wait is finally over. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare multiplayer footage has been unearthed with a brand new trailer. More specific details were also revealed including different play spaces and more player-friendly options that are set to reinvigorate the long-running series.

The trailer gives you the first-look of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare multiplayer gameplay as well as the various maps that will be included. Set to ‘Enter Sandman’ by Metallica, the trailer opens with Azhir Cave, one of the new maps that look to bring a lot of strategic gameplay. The “gimmick” for this particular map is it’s set in a pitch-black cave with night vision goggles an absolute necessity to see.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare multiplayer will also bring different play spaces, giving you more options to play the game competitively. 2v2 multiplayer will feature gunfight, while 10v10 and 20v20 play spaces will offer a variety of modes to play. A new mode known as Ground War will pit more than 100 players in a large-scale battle. Of course, the traditional 6v6 multiplayer modes will be available as well.

In the press release, Creative Director and co-Studio Head of Infinity Ward Patrick Kelly discussed how Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will bring all the players of the game together, regardless of platform. “We’re doing away with the season pass; we’re delivering a mix of free maps, a ton of content following launch, and we’re developing the game for crossplay,” says Kelly. “We’re live-testing now, and fans will get to try for themselves next month in the Beta.”

Multiplayer Gameplay Director of Infinity Ward Geoff Smith also talked about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, discussing the studio’s goal for the game’s multiplayer. “Our studio goal for Modern Warfare was to create a completely new experience, and the most varied, customizable and realistic-feeling Call of Duty multiplayer,” says Smith. “Our design goal is for gamers to have fun by playing again and again with their friends, where the action will feel fresh, but also familiar for all players every time they jump in.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is set to launch for Xbox One, PS4, and PC on October 25.
