With the WWE experiencing a women’s revolution, it should come as no surprise that the WWE 2k games would follow suit. This year’s entry will have the biggest focus on women wrestlers yet. Not only will WWE 2k20‘s Showcase mode focus on the Four Horsewomen of wrestling, it will also see the debut of Chyna.
Introduced in last year’s WWE 2k19, Showcase mode goes on a documentary style tour of a selected wrestlers career. Last year’s first incarnation of the mode saw it focus on Daniel Brian. This year, it’ll feature four superstars, Becky Lynch, Charlotte, Bayley, and Sasha Banks.

Called the Four Horsewomen as a callback to Charlotte’s father Rick Flair’s own Four Horsemen stable, these four superstars broke out of WWE’s developmental brand NXT to become some of the company’s biggest stars. They had followed in the footsteps of wrestlers such as AJ Lee, Paige, and of course Chyna, making themselves known for actual wrestling ability, instead of just looks.
Of course, these superstars wouldn’t be where they were today without the “Ninth Wonder of the World,” Chyna. Coming in as a valet for the original D-Generation X stable alongside Shawn Michaels, and Triple H (current WWE COO Paul Levesque), Chyna, differentiated herself from the WWE Divas of the day with her impressive physique and athleticism. Aside from winning the old WWF Women’s Championship, she also won the Intercontinental Championship twice, against men.
Sadly, no WWE game has featured Chyna since 2000’s WWF SmackDown 2: Know Your Role. Shortly after that game came out, Chyna left the WWE for good after having issues with her ex-boyfriend, Triple H, and his future wife Stephanie McMahon (daughter of WWE CEO Vince McMahon). This, plus a short stint as an adult video star seems to have soured the company’s relationship with her. However, this has since changed with Chyna finally being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as part of D-Generation X earlier this year. Sadly, she never lived to see this honor as she passed away on April 20, 2016.
The above aren’t the only ways that WWE 2k20 is increasing focus on women wrestlers. The game will finally allow players to play the MyCareer mode as a woman superstar. In addition to this, Mixed Tag matches will also be making a return.
