Gears 5 Limited Edition Xbox One X and peripherals revealed

With Gears 5 being one of Microsoft’s marquee titles, it should come as no surprise that the new release is getting some custom hardware to go alongside it. Microsoft and the Coalition have revealed a Gears 5 Limited Edition Xbox One X. In addition to this, the game is also getting other customized gear for both console and PC.

As with it’s predecessor, the Gears 5 console features custom graphics and decals. While the Gears of War 4 Xbox One featured a blood-red case with some replica battle damage on it, Gears 5‘s instead features a dark translucent casing spattered with white with laser etched “cracks,” making the accompanying Locust symbol look like it’s submerged in ice.

Of course, for players who for some reason don’t want the limited edition design, Microsoft will also sell Gears 5 Xbox One bundles with standard consoles. The Xbox One S bundle goes for only $299. However, the standard Gears 5 Xbox One S bundle goes for the same $499 as the Limited Edition bundle, making the latter a a much more attractive prospect.

Players who pick up the Xbox One X Gears 5 Limited Edition Bundle will receive a copy of the game as well as full-game downloads of Gears of War Ultimate Edition, Gears of War 2, Gears of War 3, and Gears of War 4. They’ll also get one-month memberships to Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Live Gold along with the in-game Ice Kait and Ice Jack Character Skins. In addition to all these, the bundle will also come with one of the other custom peripherals announced for the game: The Gears 5 Kait Diaz Limited Edition wireless controller.

The $74.99 Kait Diaz Limited Edition wireless controller features a similar off-white color scheme as the console. This time, the controller’s look is inspired by the snow-weathered armor Kait wears in the game. It also features a textured trigger trip and rubberized diamond grip. Players who pick this up will also get the Ice Kait Character Skin for use in the game.

To compliment the controller, Microsoft will is offering a charging stand featuring the same design scheme. This charging stand doesn’t come with the controller—rather, players will need to buy it separately for $49.99.

The peripherals aren’t limited to players on console. PC Gears 5 players will also get some love thanks to some themed hardware from Razer. Microsoft has partnered with the latter to release a Gears 5-themed Razer Turret wireless keyboard and mouse combo. The $299 keyboard and mouse combo features similar design scheme to the other Gears 5 hardware. More importantly, both are also compatible with the Xbox One.

In addition to the Turret, Razer will also release a Gears 5 themed Thresher headset. As with the Thresher, this also works with the Xbox One. The Gears 5 Thresher also comes with a bonus in-game item and Lancer weapon skin.

Finally, hardware manufacturer Seagate will be releasing a Gears 5 edition of its Game Drive for Xbox One. Seagate specifically designed the Game Drive SSDs to work with game consoles to allow them to store more games without having to swap their existing hard drives. The Gears 5 Game Drive features 2 terabytes of storage space and comes with a Lancer weapon skin, Supply Drops for use in-game, and a one-month membership to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, allowing players to play the game four days early. Additionally, GameStop will have a 5 terabyte version of the Gears 5 Game Drive which comes with all of the above.
