Control campaign takes roughly 10 to 15 hours to beat, two expansions also planned

With only a few more weeks until release, people may be wondering about how long the Control campaign is. Remedy Entertainment is known for its focused action adventure games, after all, and Control isn’t going to be an exception. It’s also going to a slew of DLC, as was the case for Alan Wake.

Addressing some of the IGN community’s questions about the game, Communications Director Thomas Puha revealed that the Control campaign will last for about 10 to 15 hours on average. Control isn’t a linear game, so these figures may vary according to each player, so you can count on about 20 hours if you want to enjoy the full experience. Embarking on side quests, finding collectibles, and completing the Bureau Alerts (time-limited events) will stretch the game’s length for a few hours.

However, the conclusion of the campaign won’t be the end of Control. Remedy has revealed that it has two expansion packs planned, along with other additional content following the official launch on August 27 for the Xbox One, PS4, and the PC via the Epic Games Store.

Looking at other Remedy games, the Control campaign length sits comfortably alongside Quantum Break or Alan Wake. The first Max Payne game was criticized by some for being too short as it was around eight or so hours. Eventually, players fell with love with Max Payne’s focused story and amazing slow-motion action set pieces, ultimately making the campaign length discussion redundant.

The rest of the Q&A touches on other interesting subjects, such as if the game of Psi Ops: the Mindgate Conspiracy played any part in inspiring the developers. For those who aren’t aware, Psi Ops is a cult classic about an operative who gained control of psychic powers. It’s similar to Control, where physics play a major role in Jesse Faden’s supernatural adventure.
