Modern Warfare Alpha

Modern Warfare alpha announced exclusively for PS4 at Gamescom 2019

At the Gamescom Opening Night Live event in Cologne, Germany, gaming fans were treated to some world premieres and new announcements. One of those announcements revealed that the Modern Warfare alpha would be coming in the next few days exclusively to the PS4. The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare alpha event will be taking place exclusively on the PlayStation 4 on August 23, 2019. An exact end time was not given but the trailer stated that it will only last for the weekend.

This Friday, PlayStation players will be able to get their hands on an open 2v2 alpha test before the game releases later this year for one weekend only. It remains to be seen if there will be an alpha event for Xbox players at a later date or if this event is truly exclusive to PlayStation past this weekend. After all, other PlayStation Call of Duty betas have made their way to the other platforms. However, there is a beta planned for next month, so if there isn’t another alpha period for other systems, players will be able to get their hands on the game soon enough.

The Modern Warfare alpha will also include five maps, as shown in the trailer below: Stack, King, Speedball, Docks, and Pine. Additionally, for those at Gamescom 2019, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will be playable on the game floor at the PlayStation booth.

We are just now getting more of a look at Modern Warfare‘s multiplayer modes. We still have yet to see much of the single-player mode either, outside of some hands-off demos during E3 2019. However, we are getting closer to its October 25 release date so we can also expect to get more insight on its wealth of online and offline offerings as that date draws nearer.
