Reggie Fils-Aime, the retired Nintendo of America President, recently announced that he would be heading back to school as a teacher. After saying goodbye to the Mushroom Kingdom in April 2019, Fils-Aime has been enjoying the retired life. However, instead of kicking his feet up on the beach somewhere, he has decided to accept a job at his Alma Mater, Cornell University. In his new role as the as the Leader in Residence, Fils-Aime will engage with students in a one-on-one and small group setting once a semester.

Fils-Aime, or the Regginator as he calls himself in his announcement tweet, took to Twitter to publicize his return to Cornell. He also took the time to warn his upcoming students about what will happen if they fall asleep in his class, which can be seen in the tweet above. All kidding aside, any student would be lucky to learn from the hands of an industry legend like Fils-Aime.

It seems that Fils-Aime’s role will only be for this academic year, as he will be helping launch the Leader in Residence program at Cornell. This will undoubtedly be an amazing opportunity for students who are interested in business and the gaming industry to learn from an industry icon. According Cornell’s website, the program will be centered around “leadership, conscious capitalism, and service.”
The key event during Reggie Fils-Aime’s time at Cornell will be taking place on October 21, 2019. This event will be open to the public and will feature a lecture from Fils-Aime and a chance for him to meet the community. If you’re interested in attending, you can check out the event page on Cornell’s website.
After joining Nintendo of America in 2003, Reggie Fils-Aime was promoted to the role of Chief Operating Office in May 2006 and successfully guided Nintendo through the launch of the Wii, Nintendo Switch, and many more consoles and first party games. Cornell definitely made a wise decision when they decided to add Reggie Fils-Aime to their staff.
