iPhone XI

Rumor: iPhone XI leaked by Verizon ad

The recent appearance of what looks to be a legitimate advert from telecommunications company Verizon seems to have outed the existence of a previously unannounced Apple iPhone model. Named the iPhone XI, the ad proposes that users can “take on any challenge” with the new mobile phone in-hand.

Apparently sent out early when it should have been held for an embargo, the Verizon marketing email found its way to the inbox of at least one prospective customer before it was shared out on Twitter. Although the account breaking the news is a Steve Jobs parody, it cannot be denied that the attached image of the Verizon email in question looks to be totally accurate.

The apparent marketing material suggests that the iPhone XI will feature an “Apple A13 Omega” processing chip, featuring in excess of 10 billion transistors that make it the company’s “most powerful processor.” Further tech specs that were shared include third-generation Face ID for the “fastest” iPhone unlock, along with “reverse wireless charging” that’ll allow users to wirelessly charge other iPhones and official Apple accessories like the AirPods 2 via the back of the iPhone XI.

Not only that, but the integration of three 12 megapixel cameras—at least one of which will boast an ultra-wide lens for a 120-degree field of view, plus 3x optical zoom—ensures that the iPhone XI will further appeal to the current Instagram generation.

The timing of this Verizon leak lends it further credence, as it coincides with tomorrow’s Apple Event being hosted in the Steve Jobs Theater on Apple’s Cupertino, California campus. According to CNET, the technology company looks poised to announce three new iPhone models including the iPhone 11, and now it would seem to be clear that the leaked iPhone XI will get a full official unveiling alongside it and another as-yet-unknown model.
