The former professional Call of Duty esports player turned pro Twitch streamer known as Karma managed to earn the elusive Tactical Nuke killstreak reward during his first match of the ongoing Modern Warfare beta. Perhaps this shouldn’t come as a major surprise considering he’s a former CoD world champion matchmaking in the standard player pool, but it’s nonetheless impressive given that he hadn’t yet gotten to grips with the new game’s mechanics.
Damon “Karma” Barlow freaked out as soon as he unleashed the nuke, as you can see here (volume warning), screaming “let’s f***in’ go” as the 10-second on-screen countdown to annihilation began. The hard-to-earn killstreak requires a player to rack up 30 consecutive kills without dying, then it can be unleashed in an impressive, game-ending display. Seeing them at this early, pre-release stage of Modern Warfare‘s life is incredibly rare.

Activision and Infinity Ward’s latest military shooter takes the form of a present-day reimagining of 2007’s Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, which is the behemoth series’ best selling (and perhaps best received) game to date. That game revolutionized the multiplayer gaming landscape with its progression and unlock systems as well, through the introduction of killstreaks.
While the Modern Warfare beta focuses squarely on the title’s competitive multiplayer, that’s just one of the elements comprising this year’s release. A single-player campaign mode is set to return to the franchise after being conspicuously absent from last year’s Black Ops 4, while cooperative Spec Ops mission are scheduled to return in place of the series’ equally iconic Zombies co-op mode.
Recently the appearance of an option for players to link their Nintendo Switch account to the official Call of Duty website ignited speculation that we might be getting a Switch version of the game, but Activision nipped that in the bud when they told GameRevolution: “The platforms announced for Modern Warfare are PS4, Xbox One and PC. It will not be coming to Switch.” You can pick a copy up on any of those three platforms when it launches on October 25.
