Several Pokemon Sword and Shield evolutions have had some details leaked through code hidden in the Dynamax Camera website. While this code doesn’t clue us in on any new Pokemon, it does give us some valuable information about the Galar Pokemon evolutions.
Bulbapedia Editorial Board Member abcboy posted on Twitter that the Dynamax Camera website had codenames for the various Galar Pokemon. The website in question (dmaxcamera.pokemon.co.jp) was launched in Japan and lets people put gigantic Pokemon in the background of their pictures. It also happened to have some interesting information about the creatures we’ve seen so far.

“The Japanese Dynamax picture site has codenames for the Galar Pokémon, am investigating…” abcboy said on Twitter. He later went on to find a list of codenames for the various creatures, cluing us in on the Pokemon Sword and Shield evolutions:
- Scorbunny: Usagi1
- Sobble: Chameleon1
- Grookey: Gorilla1
- Yamper: Inu1
- Rolycoly: Sekitan1
- Wooloo: Wool1
- Corviknight: Gcommondori3
- Alcremie: Gcream2
- Morpeko: Pospika
- Polteageist: Teacup2
- Gigantamax Drednaw: Gkame2
So, what do these names and numbers mean for the Pokemon Sword and Shield evolutions? Some of these are Japanese words; for example, “Usagi1” is simply “Bunny1” and “Inu1” is “Dog1”. The names themselves aren’t as interesting as the numbers (or lack thereof).
For example, we know that Scorbunny is the first evolution for one of the starter Pokemon. However, Corviknight is listed as “Gcommondori3” — that is, “Common bird 3”. This implies that Corviknight is in fact the third evolution of the Galar region’s equivalent of Pidgey.
Going by the above list (and assuming this theory is correct), we can also tell that Alcremie and Polteageist are the second evolutions of whatever comes before them. The lack of a number for Morpeko’s code likely means that it doesn’t have any evolution at all.
One final interesting tidbit is the codewords that are used. Grookey looks like an adorable little monkey, but it’s codename is “Gorilla1”, implying that it can evolve into some sort of Gorilla-esque Pokemon.
