Even though the PlayStation 3's multiplayer services were free, one thing most users complained about was the inability to chat with your friends across different games. Not only is Sony bringing this feature to the PS4, they've also announced it will not require a PlayStation Plus subscription.
In a Q&A from Sony's European team, the company confirmed that the PS4 will support party chat. In addition, party chat, free-to-play games, and media services such as Netflix and Amazon Video will not be part of the PlayStation Plus subscription. This seems to be another direct affront against Xbox, which has required with the Xbox 360 a Gold subscription for party chat and Netflix access.
As another one up effort against the Xbox, the PS4 will allow up to 2,000 friends whereas the Xbox One placed the cap at a paltry 1,000.
