Bluepoint Games teases remakes: Metal Gear, Demon’s Souls, and more

Bluepoint Games has put out a cryptic tweet hinting that it may be working on a whole bunch of interesting stuff. Could we be getting a Metal Gear Solid remake or a Demon’s Souls remake? Fetch the codebook and see if you can decipher what the team is talking about.

“So calm this spooky night,” began the mysterious Halloween tweet from Bluepoint Games. “A symphony of rumors – not one, but two – return from shadow. A resistance to dart home as black monsters escape twisted hills to wander lands and syphon souls. Filter your candy collections, soft from solid, and be eco-friendly. Have a metal Halloween.”

This may seem like word salad to some, but a bit of context transforms it into a tantalizing teaser. Bluepoint Games was the crew behind remasters of Dark SoulsShadow of the Colossus, and Gravity Rush, and there are a few big titles that are potentially hinted at in the tweet. From what I and my colleagues can guess, the Halloween teaser tweet could be insinuating that they are working on remasters of one or more of the following games:

  • Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
  • Resistance: Fall of Man
  • Syphon Filter
  • Demon’s Souls
  • Metal Gear Solid

Speculation about a Symphony of the Night remake is especially noteworthy considering that the image included with the tweet seems to fit that franchise best. Symphony of the Night remains one of the most beloved cult classics among the Castlevania series of games, and a remake would likely be pretty darn popular.

Also of note is the phrase “not one, but two,” hinting that the company is probably working on (or will soon announce) two projects rather than a single one. There are some other elements of the tweet (like the words “eco friendly”) that don’t clearly indicate any one thing in my estimation, although one Twitter reply thinks that it might be a roundabout reference to Jak & Daxter.

Odds are pretty good that Bluepoint Games is working on something. What it is will remain a mystery for now, although I’m sure a lot of people will have plenty of fun trying to guess.
