Good news for Twitch Prime subscribers. The gaming portion of Amazon’s all-encompassing subscription has just announced the multitude of free games and add-ons gamers can expect in the coming month. From a free deck in Magic: The Gathering Arena to a free monkey in Sea of Thieves, there’s plenty to enjoy. That’s not even counting the five free games playable from the Twitch client. Here’s everything that you can grab for this Twitch Prime December.
What games are free in December on Twitch Prime?
Like usual, Amazon is offering five free games to Twitch Prime subscribers this month. Starting on December 2, users will be able to grab ToeJam and Earl: Back in the Groove!, Sherlock Holmes: The Devil’s Daughter, Hover, When Ski Lifts Go Wrong, and Hue. In case you’ve not heard of any of these games, here’s a brief description of every free title.
- ToeJam and Earl: Back in the Groove! is a nostalgic return to the Sega Genesis days. This classic roguelike predecessor has players collecting random items and interacting with wacky characters to fix their spaceship and stay groovy. We gave the game a 4/5 back in February, calling out its “beautiful visuals” and “great sense of humor.”
- Sherlock Holmes: The Devil’s Daughter is 2016’s eighth entry into Frogwares’ long-running series of adventure games featuring the great detective of Baker Street.
- Hover is a first-person open-world parkour game set against a colorful neon background. It features several game modes, including races, trick challenges, and a Lucioball-inspired battle arena.
- When Ski Lifts Go Wrong is a classic example of a physics-based puzzle game. While most in the genre tend to be about building bridges, there’s plenty of wacky tragedy to discover as you try to get your skiers across the gap.
- Hue is a 2016 puzzle platform where it’s your job to shift colors to get around obstacles in a stark, stylized environment. It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first time this particular game has been offered for free, so you may already have it in your growing library.

What DLC is free in December on Twitch Prime?
Not only do Twitch Prime subscribers get a selection of free games at the start of each month, but they also get add-ons for a host of free and premium titles. This December, members get to claim new content for Sea of Thieves, PUBG Mobile, Magic Arena, Rocket League and more. Perhaps most excitingly, at some point in December, players of both League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics will get mystery cosmetic boosters. They’ll also get those boosters in January and February, giving them three chances at phat loot. For the rest of the scheduled bonuses, here’s a chronological listing of what you can expect and when you can expect it.
Starting today, pirates on Rare’s high seas can claim a content pack for Sea of Thieves. This includes an “audacious ship livery set”, unique emotes and an “eye-catching pet monkey.” As you’d expect, all of these cosmetic bonuses are decked out in Twitch purple. On November 29, PUBG Mobile players can grab a 30-day use token for the Black Magma Parachute. If you’re quick and reading before that date, you can also grab the current bonus item, a token to use the Blood Oath – KAR98K for a full month. On December 3, Magic Arena players will get a few new cards for their collection with the free Liliana’s Legion deck. No specifics about what’s in the deck, but odds are that it involves the black planeswalker’s War of the Spark days and plenty of zombies.
On December 5, Dauntless players will get a new cosmetic item, followed by a new loot drop in RuneScape on December 10. You can load up Contra: Rogue Corps on December 12 for its second Prime item on PS4. Finally, Rocket League gets its last Prime pack on December 19, featuring an exclusive goal explosion, a new banner, and an antenna. There will also be drops for mobile games like Mobile Legends, Fortress M, King of Fighters: ALLSTAR, and more throughout the month.
