A new Doom Eternal trailer dropped today, giving us another look at the eagerly anticipated shooter from id Software and Bethesda Softworks. It looks more polished than previous footage we’ve seen, and the delay seems to have given id the chance to make this game something special.
In the trailer, we see the Earth dominated by a demonic portal. Radio chatter indicates that billions of humans have died. It also seems like the demons have shattered the moon for good measure. The Doom Slayer appears to be located on some space station in orbit of Earth, which seems to have some connection to the Wraiths and the Night Sentinels.

This time around, the Doom Slayer must not only contend against the forces of hell, but he must also face down the legions of heaven. We didn’t get to see much in that regard in the trailer, but it appears that at some point, the Doom Slayer has to fight the Night Sentinels.
We also get to see more of the Marauder, which seems to be some hellish counterpart to the Doom Slayer. The Marauder wears armor similar to the Praetor Suit worn by Doomguy and wields a super shotgun. Whether the Marauder is an individual or a class of enemy isn’t known yet. However, I would bet on him being a boss of some sort.
The trailer showed off more gameplay as well. In keeping what we’ve seen and heard so far, the action seems to include more verticality and is much quicker than Doom (2016). In addition to the launcher included in the Doom Slayers armor, you’ll get to wield the Crucible sword, which has a sweet execution you can see at the end of the trailer.
Doom Eternal is shaping up to be one of the year’s biggest games, and we can’t wait to play it when it debuts on March 20, 2020, on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Google Stadia.
