Metro Exodus Nintendo Switch rumor

Metro Exodus Nintendo Switch rumor joined by Metro Redux games

Will we see a Metro Exodus Nintendo Switch release? A recent reveal of yet another retailer listing a Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux Nintendo Switch combination pack indicates that it might just happen.

To start, we need to rewind way back to June of 2018. Speaking to Gamingbolt, 4A games said that while the engine for the game is “highly scalable”, there weren’t any plans for a Metro Exodus Nintendo Switch version. While the newer game is certainly more expansive, it is nonetheless very similar in visual fidelity to the Metro Redux games.

Then, a listing for the Metro Redux games popped up on a Portuguese retailer in early October of last year as reported by WCCFTEch. The now-deleted store listing showed a combination pack of Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux being sold for €44.99 which would work out to roughly a $49.99 launch price in the U.S. and probably around £39.99 in the UK.

Things just took another step in the right direction with yet another retail listing. According to gaming industry tweeter Nibel, a French distributor has listed Metro Redux for the Nintendo Switch, adding fuel to the fire that the first two games are coming to Nintendo’s core console as a combination pack. The French retail posting also included a planned release date: February 28, 2020.

While nothing has been officially confirmed, two separate listings from retailers is a pretty good indication that we’ll be getting Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux on the Nintendo Switch in a little over a month. It stands to reason that that would mean there are also pretty good chances for a Metro Exodus Nintendo Switch release — after all, a majority of the work on the PS4 and Xbox One versions has already been put to bed, freeing up resources at 4A games to move on to porting it to the Switch.

If the February 28 release date is genuine, we’ll probably be hearing something about Metro Redux on the Switch officially in the next few weeks; hopefully, that will also be followed with some kind of an announcement for a Metro Exodus Nintendo Switch edition. The PC gamers out there should also note that Metro Exodus launched on the Epic Games Store on February 15, 2019, which means that the Steam version should be made available for sale around the same time this year.
