Project GG is industry legend Hideki Kamiya‘s latest game, it has been revealed, and it will also be the first game that is completely self-published by Platinum Games.
The upcoming game was announced in Famitsu magazine, with Kamiya stating that it would be something that Platinum has “not done before.” According to the interview (translation via ResetEra), Kamiya said that it would focus on a “huge hero,” and that it would betray expectations people may have of a Platinum game.
Platinum’s Head Producer Atsushi Inaba stated that Tencent had approached the company to publish the game, though Platinum refused the offer as it wanted to be in full creative control of the project.

Platinum wants to release the game on all existing platforms, with the studio aiming to have 100 employees working on the game. 15 staff members are currently working on it, indicating that it’s likely a long way away from release.
Project GG will be the final entry in Kamiya’s ‘Hero Trilogy,’ which also included Viewtiful Joe and The Wonderful 101. The emphasis on a “huge hero” this time around brings to mind the likes of Godzilla and King Kong, though it remains to be seen if this is the direction Kamiya is heading in.
The Platinum 4 website was updated to state that a new announcement would be coming today, February 26. It’s likely that Project GG will be the focus of this announcement, following Platinum’s reveal of The Wonderful 101: Remastered. There are a further two unannounced games, both of which are brand new games, with Kamiya and Inaba teasing that it’s a big secret that will be “very interesting.”
There’s no further details available right now, though as Project GG is seemingly set to be the next Platinum 4 game, we should receive more information on it later today.
