Control dev Remedy is working on a new ‘AAA multi-platform’ game

Control developer Remedy Entertainment has announced a new deal with an as-yet-unannounced major publisher, which will see the studio release two multi-platform games. This also puts to rest rumors that Remedy had already secretly been acquired by Sony to work on exclusive games for the PS5.

The announcement states that Remedy is working on two games. The first is an “AAA multi-platform game already in pre-production,” that was previously referred to as “the unannounced third project.” The second game will be a smaller-scale project set in the same franchise. Remedy is developing both using its proprietary Northlight game engine and tools.

Remedy has stated that it will reveal further details later today in a press release, including which publisher it is working with. The games will launch on the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC.

The studio hasn’t announced which upcoming games it is working on, though rumors of Alan Wake 2 are already beginning to circulate. Fans have been waiting for a sequel to the Xbox 360 cult classic, and though Remedy has focused on developing new IP, it could mark a return to the popular last-generation game.

As Remedy will be publishing multi-platform games, it will therefore be working with a publisher outside of Sony and Microsoft. Remedy worked with 505 Games to publish Control and Microsoft Studios with Quantum Break, though this new press release indicates that the studio is working with a new publisher to bring its next two projects to life.

The press release later today will contain a more detailed explanation of where Remedy is heading. It hasn’t been revealed when this next press release will be published, though keep it tuned to Game Revolution for updates.
