Eidos Montreal Confirms Next-Gen Deus Ex Game In Development

Eidos Montreal announced
today that they finally have a release date for Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut, which will be October 22nd for the Wii U, PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. They also used this moment to announce they are working something they are currently calling the Deus Ex Universe, which will "create an ongoing, expanding and connected game world built across a generation of core games."

"It’s a commitment on our part to deliver meaningful content that expands the franchise on a regular basis and to deliver a deep conspiracy that will span several connected Deus Ex games, creating a more immersive and richer experience than ever before," studio head David Anfossi wrote. "Deus Ex: Universe will include PC and console games, but also additional Deus Ex games and experiences available in other media such as tablets, smartphones, books, graphic novels, etc."

In addition, they have already started production on the first game in this new universe for next-gen consoles and PC.

Anfossi presented a piece of concept art with his post (shown above). '[It] shows trans-humanism segregation, which is a backdrop to our vision for the next Deus Ex," Anfossi explained. "It represents a 'ghetto-city' voluntarily built in order to separate the classes. The people in this segregated class have reshaped their environment, nostalgic for their ideal of Cyber Renaissance. This dark and dystopian vision sets the tone for things to come in Deus Ex."

No word on when they expect to release the first game in the Deus Ex Universe, but we will most likely not hear much else on that until after they complete Thief, slated to release in 2014.
