GaymerX2 Announced, Double Rainbows For All

This calls for two scoops of Double Rainbow ice cream.

GaymerX2, the second annual convention for GaymerX held on August 2013 in Japantown, is now slated for next year and will be taking over the Intercontinental Hotel in Downtown San Francisco on July 11-13. Only a block away from the Moscone Center, where the Game Developers Conference is held every year, the Intercontinental Hotel will allow for more guest accommodations, a larger convention space, and an extra day of scheduled events.

And just to reiterate, GaymerX is for everyone. All adults, regardless of sexual orientation, can attend and have an awesome time, as GameRevolution's Kevin Schaller, Ryan Bates, Blake Peterson, Gil Almogi, Jessica Vazquez, and I did at GaymerX.

Matt Conn, one of the founders of the convention, believes that this is a great step toward legitimizing video games as a valid artform:

For games to be taken seriously as the pieces of art that they are, they can’t live in a culture that is afraid to tackle and discuss issues like gender, sexuality, race, and identity. The amount of support that we’ve gotten for GaymerX shows that the gaming community is coming around to the idea of having serious debates on how to improve the medium.

A healthy list of guest-of-honor Bosses have already lined up for GaymerX 2, including Mattie Brice, Alexis Ohanian, David Gaider, Gordon Bellamy, Jaime Woo, and John Scalzi, along with returning guests Ellen McLain, John Patrick Lowrie, and Zach Weinersmith. Musicians 2 Mello and Virt are slated to perform as well.

As before, Logo TV will retrun as a presenting media sponsor, along with new sponsor Cards Against Humanity who will accompany the numerous game rooms for video games, card games, and game rooms. There will also be a new event for Gaymer Weddings, which I hope to attend for the drama alone.
