The Last of Us 2 sales

The Last of Us 2 beats the hate with 4 million copies sold in 3 days

The Last of Us 2 sales have been positively stellar: Sony has announced that the game has moved an astonishing 4 million copies in the first three days. That’s a pretty good indication that The Last of Us 2 has likely won out against the haters out there, but that’s not the whole story.

“We’re delighted to report that The Last of Us Part II is now the fastest-selling first-party PS4 exclusive ever with more than 4 million copies sold through as of June 21,” stated a post on the PlayStation Blog. The reception to the news, however, hasn’t all been positive.

Some of the replies to the announcement on Twitter have been fairly critical of the game in general. (Spoiler alert!)

Some people were so displeased with the story in The Last of Us 2 that they’ve indicated they had returned (or tried to return) the game.

And of course, some are simply enjoying the game’s success and dunking on the haters who didn’t like it for one reason or another.

While The Last of Us 2 sales are certainly impressive, it should be noted that these numbers aren’t the whole story. We don’t know how many copies have been returned, nor do we know how big it could have been before all of the leaks and controversy. Even so, 4 million copies moved in just a few days is undeniably a success.
