Rumor: ‘Surprising’ Valve announcement coming in late 2020

A noted leaker has made the claim that a “surprising” Valve announcement will be coming sometime later this year. A fan-favorite IP is allegedly going to be materializing in the next three months, although what it might be is a mystery.

“Leak: I was just told there will be a ‘surprising’ [Valve-related] announcement made between August and sometime in October,” said @HotGirlVideos69 via Twitter. “Will involve a ‘beloved IP’.”

This might seem a bit random, but @HotGirlVideos69 earned herself a reputation for accurate video game leaks back in early March 2020 after she correctly predicted that E3 2020 was going to be canceled over pandemic concerns. The Twitter user has alleged that her occupation as a webcam model has led to her receiving multiple pieces of insider info, all reportedly stemming from clients related to the gaming industry.

“E3 is [canceled] due to concerns related to the #coronavirus – I found out from a guy who pays me for private cam GFE sessions,” she said in a now-deleted tweet (which has since been archived). “They’re always #COVID19 free.”

Roughly a week later, that rumor proved to be true: E3 2020 was indeed canceled. The ESA announced that it was going to shift to an online-only convention — definitely the right move under those circumstances — but it later canceled the online E3 presentation, too.

This same leaker later made the prediction that a Nintendo Direct would be making a surprise debut in late March 2020. Lo and behold, the prediction that she made also came true — a Nintendo Direct Mini popped up seemingly out of nowhere, revealing that the Borderlands CollectionBioShock Collection, and XCOM 2 Collection would be coming to the Nintendo Switch.

While those two leaks were impressive, @HotGirlVideos69 hasn’t always been accurate. Later in May 2020, she predicted that there would be a “big” Nintendo reveal over the last weekend in May. However, nothing ever materialized. The tweet making that prediction has since been deleted.

Although she was wrong on that particular point, it doesn’t necessarily mean that she didn’t have accurate information; it’s possible that whatever Nintendo planned to debut in late May 2020 may have been rescheduled at the last minute.

That said, these are nonetheless unsubstantiated rumors — as always, you should take them with a grain of salt. We can’t say for sure whether or not there will be a big Valve announcement, but the thought of what they’re coming up with is certainly tantalizing.
