Today’s been a great day for JRPG fans. We didn’t just get a release window for Shin Megami Tensei V — we’ve also learned that Shin Megami Tensei 3: Nocturne HD Remaster is in development and will be arriving nearly 20 years after it first launched.
The news of this HD Shin Megami Tensei remaster arrived as part of the Nintendo Direct Mini which premiered earlier today. The video had a fair few reveals of upcoming games, two of which were titles in the Shin Megami Tensei franchise. You’ll be able to play this game sometime soon — it’s all set to launch in 2021.
If you’ve never played the Shin Megami Tensei games, you’ve missed out on a series of classic RPGs from Atlus, the same people who’ve brought you great games like Catherine: Full Body and Persona 5 Royal.
While the overall Megami Tensei franchise has been around since 1987, this was the first game to get a proper release in the West all the way back in 2004. Now, the first Western release for the franchise is getting updated for the modern era with a widescreen aspect ratio and shiny new graphical upgrades.
Sadly, you’ll have tow ait until 2021 to play the Shin Megami Tensei 3: Nocturne HD Remaster. For now, you can check out its Announcement Trailer below.
